The quiteness, scenery and meals, expecially good having a small fridge in the unit. Great gardens if a little more tidy for weddings etc.
Having to put up with smokers next door when we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. Had to shut windows etc as smell entered. Yes, plastice seats upgraded would be an added value.

That was quaint and gorgeous hotel set in peaceful area, near to activities or equipment for families to use, the Aorangi mountains, and the restaurant. They gave us good sized queen room with well-equipped large bathrooms. Nice location - a short walk to everywhere we needed.

The room I stayed in had beautiful views and was comfortably large and quiet.

I enjoyed the warm welcome and friendliness, the gardens and scenenery was gorgeous. Lovely and near the shops and lavendar farm which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was enough for me some folk may have preferred a cooked breakfast.
Can't say there was anything I didn't like I thoroughly enjoyed the two days that we stayed.

Friendly staff, good to have full bar and restaurant facilities available on site. Having bed & breakfast as part of the price. Grand setting in spite of looking a little scruffy and tired. Photos and displays in restaurant & bar area. Would definitely stay again when we return to area.
Feel the place looks a bit tired - grounds if better maintained would lend themselves to wedding venue, conferences. Perhaps 'Freeview' or partial SKY would enhance stay if weather was not pleasant. Rooms could do with a few bits & pieces for helping R&R when staying for a couple of days. i.e. knife, spoon etc to help put to-gether bread rolls or sandwiches for day outings. Remove the plastic chairs! The great wooden furniture outside each room and outside the restaurant& bar area are great. Designated smoking area - terrible to have smokers on each side when we stayed and we had to shut our door & windows because of smell.

I loved the queen room with beautiful views and appreciated the amenities like the fridge, electric kettle, and iron/ironing board. It's situated in a secluded area on the outskirts of the town.

Staff was great. It was great to have a bar & restaurant on the premises. Complimentary breakfast was very good.
Air conditioning is not at all effective. Also, there are no screens on any windows, so one took the chance of being eaten up by mosquitoes leaving the windows open to cool the room down. This place should have live music all the time!

Rustic and charming spot, I enjoyed its secluded setting next to lush parks and the beautiful South Island of NZ. 🌿

Setting.
Price was high for room in comparison with similar rooms elsewhere. Setting offset this.

Had enjoyable stay in an otherwise fantastic NZ holiday and the weather was sunny. The setting was tranquil, near to Kaikoura in the countryside. It also was away from State Highway 1.

We had a really enjoyable stay at Donegal House. The hotel's location was peaceful and close enough to snow-capped mountains, a nice farm with beautiful gardens, and Kaikoura/shops. Plus, it was 20 minutes by car to Kaikoura Beach.

I had a lovely stay here on a long weekend, being away from the busy crowds was just perfect. It was very calming being on the outskirts, surrounded by beautiful gardens with a backdrop of snow capped mountains. I enjoyed the location and the access to various activities such as cycling trails. The service was top-notch, the staff was very friendly and always willing to help out. They had various amenities available such as tours/ticket assistance, free toiletries, and a comfortable sitting area with a flat-screen TV. The laundry was always clean, and the shuttle service was free, making my stay even more pleasant.
I highly recommend this place to family and friends!
